The first wave of kids going off to college for freshman year is hitting my house hard: long time basketball teammates have left the locker room for the ultimate away game, and it’s a new reality for my high school senior. (Wait, did I just type that?)
Although Covid may change how it appears on the surface, nothing changes how special that first day of senior year is: finally sitting atop the high school food chain, a driver’s license in hand, and if you’re fortunate, driving a car that has been passed down through generations and older siblings. Good thing that diesel Oldsmobile station wagon can’t talk…
But let’s not kid ourselves. This school year is going to be hard: hard work, hard realities, hard truths. And that calls for hard liquor. đŸ˜‰Â
No matter which hat we don day or night, does anyone else wonder if there are enough ohms in the universe to summon the patience and calm to be a good mum during a very different back-to-school this year? Case in point: little sister freshman at school with big brother senior. Ohhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…Â
It’s Hard, So Lubricate
1 shot of hard liquor – your choice!
Fruitations chaser – your choice!
Offering best wishes to all our kids at all our schools this year and raising a glass to all the caregivers giving tender, loving care.
