Any Daddy’s girl knows that Fathers’ Day can be bittersweet: no longer able to touch those warm hands, and so grateful for having them hold us close. This grateful daughter smiles at it all: the memories, experiences and lessons he taught that keep him so vibrantly alive within all of Bill Goldberg’s loved ones hearts and minds.
These days especially I miss him, telling me that everything is going to be okay, because who wouldn’t believe the cutest man in the world, with his warm smile and comforting embrace? A man of principle, my Dad led with love, teaching by actions and deeds: everyone is the same; anyone can work hard and achieve a dream; be kind. These lessons played out across Cambridge for 50+ years as my Dad and beloved Uncle Bernie helped shape the flavor of Central Square – literally. Their legacy continues throughout the diaspora of dreamers who came to this country in search of a better life, beginning at The Athenian Taverna, and continuing through The India Pavillion and Brookline Lunch; the delicious memories and lessons echo in our children still.
Happy Father’s Day!
